The counterfeit toys are among thousands of other items to be seized that are worth around £600,000.

A stash of fake Pokémon toys and Harry Potter wands are among thousands of items that have been seized at Stansted Airport this Christmas season.

Since the start of November, Border Force officers have detained £600,000 worth of counterfeit items, including 100 plastic wands and 3,000 fake plush toys, featuring character from Minecraft, Pokémon and Nintendo.

The counterfeit plush toys and Harry Potter toys are believed to be worth £62,000 and £3,000, respectively.

Robert Goodwill, immigration minister, said: "The international trade in counterfeit goods undercuts honest traders, and is linked to serious and organised crime, sweatshop working practices, child labour, and even the funding of terrorism,” reports Essex Live.

"Unsuspecting customers are also left out of pocket with inferior and potentially dangerous goods.

"We are determined to crack down on this criminality and Border Force officers help protect consumers by working around the clock at ports, airports and mail sorting centres identifying and seizing counterfeit goods."
